Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with mild air moving in from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac de la Peur should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac de la Peur is one of the Côte-Nord listings for Quebec. Elevation runs to 511 metres. Roughly 11 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Godefroy is the closest town at 101 km. Saguenay sits 380 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Fish Lac de la Peur where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Between January at about -20°C and July at about 14°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid May. On average, mid May opens the water and early November closes it again. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac de la Peur.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Alwin sits 0.8 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Lac de la Peur before loading the car.
