Flat light and a covered sky today, with an easy breeze from the SSW with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Lac de la Montagne should come off points where shallow meets deep. The evening should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones.

Lac de la Montagne is set in Outaouais, Quebec. The bank gives way to pine and birch. At 8 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. Head to Wakefield, 28 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Val-des-Monts (37 km) and Saint-Raphaël (39 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. The county list is broader than any single water. Read Lac de la Montagne for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Climate normals give 19°C for July and -13°C for January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to early December. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. The season on Lac de la Montagne rarely departs from it.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Mary at 0.4 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position at Lac de la Montagne before loading the car.
