Dull, settled light over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the WSW with the barometer flat. Give shallow cover and weed edges the first hour at Lac de la Mine. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac de la Mine in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. The bank is 226 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 9 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. Pont Rouge lies 18 km from the water. Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc is 20 km away, with Dolbeau-Mistassini at 24 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Fish Lac de la Mine where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -19°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Lac de la Mine fishes to that pattern most years.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. A slipway is marked about 1.3 km from here. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Petit lac Roy at 1.7 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position on Lac de la Mine before loading the car.
