Heavy overcast holding through the day, with light air out of the WSW and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Villeneuve will be around any hard bottom among the soft. A hard day on paper; the evening edges the rest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Villeneuve belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Height above sea level is 199 metres. With some 43 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The shoreline runs about 14 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Few waters listed in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean are bigger. The closest town, Pont Rouge, is 10 km away. Then Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, 12 km, and Dolbeau-Mistassini, 18 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Villeneuve fishes better once you know its edges.
Between January at about -19°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. That shapes the year on Lac Villeneuve.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Castor, 2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lac Villeneuve before loading the car.
