Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac de la Malice should come off any hard bottom among the soft. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac de la Malice stands in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. The ground round it is spruce and muskeg. It measures about 38 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 3.7 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The nearest place of any size is Chapais, 85 km away. Saguenay sits 245 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Read Lac de la Malice before you fish it and the day goes better.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. On Lac de la Malice that shapes the whole year.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Luscan, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac de la Malice in particular, ask before you travel.
