Overcast skies today, with a mirror surface most of the day and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac de la Hutte will be around the margins and the shelf beyond them. If you pick one session, make it the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac de la Hutte is a Nord-du-Québec water, Quebec side. It sits at 404 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 18 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 1.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. On size it sits at the modest end of our Nord-du-Québec list. Head to Chibougamau, 50 km away, for anything you forgot. After that come Chapais at 52 km and Mistissini at 110 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Nord-du-Québec: Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout. The county list is broader than any single water. Lac de la Hutte responds to conditions more than to tactics.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -19°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Time your trip to Lac de la Hutte by conditions rather than dates.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Discret sits 0.6 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position at Lac de la Hutte before loading the car.
