Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a kind S breeze on the water with the glass holding level. On Lac de la Femelle, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. Set the alarm around the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Open biodiversity records for Mauricie list northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Read Lac de la Femelle for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -16°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That shapes the year on Lac de la Femelle.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Lac Pineault at 2.2 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lac de la Femelle if anything is unclear.
