Fresh rain topping the water up today, with dead-still conditions and steady pressure. Expect most activity at Lac de la Carpe around windblown banks where food collects. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Set in Laurentides, Quebec, this is Lac de la Carpe. It stands 223 metres above sea level. At 10 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. The town to know is Saint-Raphaël, 30 km out. Further out sit Maniwaki (40 km) and Wakefield (46 km). A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Work Lac de la Carpe in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Long-term averages put July at about 19°C and January near -13°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly early December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan any trip to Lac de la Carpe around it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac a la Pruche at 1.7 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lac de la Carpe for certain.
