Thin cloud passing over the water tonight, with an easy breeze from the SW with the barometer flat. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Lac Darbit. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Darbit is set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Boreal forest runs right down to the water. Roughly 1.68 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. At about 15 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. It is among the larger waters listed here for Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Senneterre lies 68 km from the water. After that come Val-d'Or at 88 km and Barraute at 92 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch and walleye among the fish reported. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Darbit repays a walk before the first cast.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Plan around that when you fish Lac Darbit.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac en Boucle, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Darbit carry more weight than any list.
