Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft S wind and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Danis along the weed line and any gaps in it. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Quebec holds Lac Danis, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The water sits 267 metres up. Around 18 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. There is roughly 2.5 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Normandin sits 20 km from the bank. Albanel is 26 km and Saint-Félicien 34 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac Danis the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -19°C in January. The ice season is long here and the open one short. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac Danis runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. If the gate is shut, Lac Lods at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. Signs at Lac Danis carry more weight than any list.
