Soft grey light all day today, with a gentle ripple from the S and steady pressure. The water to cover at Lac Danielle is the seam between weed and open water. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Danielle falls in Laurentides, part of Quebec. The land about it is mixed forest. About 6 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Nearest town is Ferme-Neuve, 40 km off. It is 177 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. Also worth knowing: Lac Normand some 0.6 km off, Lac Canne within 0.9 km, Lac Mantha some 1.3 km off, Lac Louis within 1.4 km and Lac Jeannette some 1.8 km off. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac Danielle the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -16°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Lac Danielle fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Normand at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position on Lac Danielle before loading the car.
