Dull, settled light over the water, with a gentle ripple from the SSW with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Daniel around reed fringes and open pockets. Quiet conditions all day, with the morning marginally better. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

Lac Daniel lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. This is taiga ground. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Saint-Fulgence lies 60 km from the water. Saint-Honoré follows at 63 km, then La Baie at 69 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean names northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac Daniel that means starting tight and working out.
The range across the year is -18°C to 15°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Winter locks it down, and mid May brings it back. Averages suggest open water from about mid May through to roughly early November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Lac Daniel runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. If the gate is shut, Lac de la Montagne at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Daniel, the notice at the access point is the final word.
