Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a light chop building from the SSW with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Cuthbert should centre on sheltered bays and points. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Cuthbert is one of the Outaouais waters in Quebec. It sits at 324 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 20 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 2.1 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Chalk River lies 30 km from the water. Deep River is 30 km away, with Petawawa at 32 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. At Lac Cuthbert the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
The range across the year is -14°C to 18°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Cuthbert fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Petit lac aux Vers is 1.4 km off. Where Lac Cuthbert is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
