Dull, settled light over the water, with barely a breath of wind and no real change in pressure. On Lac Croft, work shallow cover and weed edges first. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Within Nord-du-Québec, Quebec, you have Lac Croft. Around the bank it is taiga. The water covers some 36 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The full circuit measures close to 3.2 km on foot. Waswanipi lies 78 km from the water. Beyond it, Chapais at 93 km and Lebel-sur-Quévillon at 99 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Public occurrence data for Nord-du-Québec names Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Lac Croft should walk it once before setting up.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Lac Croft runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. If the gate is shut, Lac Windfall at 3.4 km is the nearest alternative. Treat access at Lac Croft as something to verify.
