Flat light and a covered sky today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Creux should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Laurentides, Lac Creux is a Quebec water. Elevation runs to 234 metres. The far bank is a conversation away, so keep low and quiet. Our Laurentides list holds plenty of bigger water. Start from Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, 26 km down the road. Further out sit Ripon (39 km) and La Minerve (42 km). No border sits close enough to matter.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Fish Lac Creux where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -14°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Anyone fishing Lac Creux regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Should this one be busy, Lac de la Tortue is 0.3 km off. Rules at Lac Creux are worth checking on the day.
