Dull, settled light over the water, with a busy WNW wind on the open water and no real change in pressure. Give shallow cover and weed edges the first hour at Lac Cotyle. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Cotyle sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, out in Quebec. It lies 357 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to about 6 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It is a small entry by Abitibi-Témiscamingue standards. Saint-Boniface is the closest town at 109 km. It is 215 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Lac Cotyle responds to conditions more than to tactics.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -16°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. At Lac Cotyle the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping shows a campsite some 440 m from the water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. If the gate is shut, Lac Bias at 1.3 km is the nearest alternative. Treat access at Lac Cotyle as something to verify.
