An even grey lid over the water, with a whisper of wind from the S and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Congis should hold close to sheltered bays and points. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Congis lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Country round the bank runs to boreal forest. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Normandin is the closest town at 91 km. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 208 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Congis repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -19°C on the long-run figures. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan any trip to Lac Congis around it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Hem at 0.5 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Congis for certain.
