Soft grey light all day today, with a consistent blow out of the SSW and pressure sitting still. On Lac Colson, work shallow cover and weed edges first. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Laurentides, Lac Colson is a Quebec water. Around the bank it is mixed forest. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Laurentides. The nearest town is Rivière-Rouge, 21 km away. The nearest city of size is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 107 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. The county list is broader than any single water. Lac Colson repays a walk before the first cast.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -15°C in January. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan around that when you fish Lac Colson.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Lac Valade, 1.4 km away. Confirm before you fish Lac Colson.
