An even grey lid over the water, with an easy breeze from the SW with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Claveau should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Lac Claveau is a Côte-Nord water, Quebec side. The country round it is spruce and muskeg from end to end. It measures some 1.69 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. The shoreline runs about 11 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. On our Côte-Nord list it sits near the top for size. For supplies, Maliotenam is 44 km out. Sept-Îles is 56 km and Port-Cartier 95 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name logperch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac Claveau gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate records put July near 15°C and January near -16°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Winter locks it down, and mid May brings it back. From about mid May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Plan around that when you fish Lac Claveau.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Failing this one, try Lac Key, 4.8 km away. Rules at Lac Claveau are worth checking on the day.
