A mixed sky through the night, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and the barometer holding steady. Lac Clair should fish best around the weed line and any gaps in it today. A stay-home graph, with the morning as the one excuse to go. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lac Clair in Outaouais, Quebec. The bank is 311 metres above sea level. Around 46 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Roughly 3.8 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. On our Outaouais list it sits near the top for size. Fort-Coulonge is the closest place, 34 km off. Then Saint-Raphaël, 41 km, and Maniwaki, 52 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lac Clair the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Clair.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Laforest, 2.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lac Clair before loading the car.
