An even grey lid over the water, with a gentle ripple from the W and no real change in pressure. On Lac Chimere, work shallow cover and weed edges first. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Quebec holds Lac Chimere, in Côte-Nord. Beyond the shoreline you have taiga. With some 14 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 2.6 km of margin, front to back. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. You are 64 km from Sept-Îles. For a city, Saguenay is 391 km off. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. On Lac Chimere that means starting tight and working out.
On the long-term average, July reads 14°C and January reads -19°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Break-up comes around mid May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The season between ice runs from about mid May to early November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Lac Chimere runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Petit lac Chimere, 0.3 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Chimere in what we hold.
