No direct sun expected today, with a whisper of wind from the NE and pressure going nowhere. On Lac Charette, work points where shallow meets deep first. A long productive spell runs night into morning. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac Charette sits. It stands 319 metres above sea level. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. For supplies, Rivière-Rouge is 22 km out. The big place round here is Orléans, 109 km distant. Within easy reach: Lac Parent 1.2 km, Lac Saint-Antoine at 1.2 km, Lac Sego 1.5 km, Lac Saint-Francois-d'Assise at 1.8 km and Lac Ryden 2.8 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Treat Lac Charette as a water to read rather than to cover.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -14°C in January. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Charette fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. If the gate is shut, Lac Parent at 1.2 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Charette, the notice at the access point is the final word.
