Look for Lac Carsac in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It sits at 412 metres above sea level. About 8 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. For supplies, Normandin is 87 km out. For a city, Saguenay is 204 km off. Nearest other option: Lac Logron near enough 0.3 km, Lac Louval the better part of 0.7 km, Lac Bourgeois near enough 1.2 km, Lac Baratier the better part of 1.2 km and Lac Laymont near enough 1.4 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Carsac before you fish it and the day goes better.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. It holds true on Lac Carsac more years than not.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Lac Logron at 0.3 km is the nearest alternative. Where Lac Carsac is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
