Rain moving through today, with a soft S wind and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Carouge will be around any hard bottom among the soft. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Carouge is a Mauricie water, Quebec side. Everything around it is pine and birch. The water covers some 64 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. You are looking at roughly 6.8 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. It ranks high for size among our Mauricie listings. The closest town, La Tuque, is 28 km away. Laurentides lies 66 km off, Sainte-Thècle another 72 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Lac Carouge the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Carouge fishes to that pattern most years.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Wabush sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Treat Lac Carouge as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
