Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft W wind with a settled glass. The water to cover at Lac Carillon is the shallows early and the drop later. The day fishes best from night into morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Carillon is one of the Laurentides waters in Quebec. This is lake country bush ground. At 5 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. For a base, Brownsburg-Chatham sits 4.5 km out. Beyond it, Lachute at 6.1 km and Saint-Canut at 22 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Our records hold no depth for this water. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Read Lac Carillon for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -12°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. After mid April the shallows warm and the fish move up. In an average year the thaw lands around mid April and the freeze near early December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Anyone fishing Lac Carillon regularly works to that calendar.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Crooks, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Carillon should be assumed from this page alone.
