Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a light chop building from the SSE and steady pressure. The productive water at Lac Caribou will be around structure within a cast of the bank. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

In Quebec, Lac Caribou falls inside Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The bank is 250 metres above sea level. It covers about 2 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. The nearest town is Albanel, 35 km away. Normandin follows at 38 km, then Dolbeau-Mistassini at 45 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Work Lac Caribou in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -20°C for January. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. At Lac Caribou the season follows that pattern closely.
Access is not recorded for this water. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. If the gate is shut, Lac a Paul at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Caribou, the notice at the access point is the final word.
