Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and steady pressure. Start the search at Lac Canly along sheltered bays and points. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean end of Quebec holds Lac Canly. The bank is 401 metres above sea level. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Leblanc is the closest place, 89 km off. It is 208 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Public occurrence data for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean names northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Canly the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. That is the shape of the year on Lac Canly.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Gissac sits 0.4 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lac Canly in what we hold.
