Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a persistent wind from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. On Lac Buse, work the shallows early and the drop later first. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Buse sits in Lanaudière, out in Quebec. Elevation runs to 424 metres. Roughly 15 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Shoreline comes to about 2.3 km, small enough to learn in a day. Head to Manawan, 21 km away, for anything you forgot. For a city, Trois-Rivières is 188 km off. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Buse gives up more to patience than to distance.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. This far north the hard season runs and runs. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. At Lac Buse the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Lac Tikenne, 3.7 km away. Treat Lac Buse as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
