No direct sun expected today, with light air out of the SSW and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Brochet will be around the shallows early and the drop later. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Set in Estrie, Quebec, this is Lac Brochet. The surroundings are mixed forest. It measures about 55 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. A shoreline of some 4.8 km keeps the choices simple. You are 12 km from Weedon Centre. For a city, Sherbrooke is 56 km off. In the same area: Lac a la Biche at 2.3 km, Lac a la Truite within 4.6 km, Etang Moose at 5.1 km, Petit lac Brochet within 5.5 km and Lac Elgin at 7.2 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name rainbow trout, white sucker, pumpkinseed, brook trout and rainbow smelt. The county list is broader than any single water. Treat Lac Brochet as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -12°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. That is the shape of the year on Lac Brochet.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac a la Biche, 2.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Brochet may have changed since it was mapped.
