Flat light and a covered sky today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Boussemart should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

Lac Boussemart is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. The setting is taiga. Around 48 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Shoreline length is close to 5.5 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Fulgence, 85 km away. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 95 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Boussemart the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The warmest month averages 16°C, the coldest about -18°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac Boussemart runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. For a change of water, Lac Gingras is 1 km distant. Rules at Lac Boussemart are worth checking on the day.
