Flat light and a covered sky today, with mild air moving in from the WSW with a settled glass. Give the shallows early and the drop later the first hour at Lac Blanc. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Morning
Look for Lac Blanc in the Outaouais part of Quebec. It stands 234 metres above sea level. Roughly 29 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge runs 2.8 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Saint-Boniface sits 13 km from here and is the nearest stop. Maniwaki follows at 23 km, then Saint-Raphaël at 35 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Blanc repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -15°C on the long-run figures. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. It holds true on Lac Blanc more years than not.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Failing this one, try Lac Hartmoor, 1.1 km away. Signs at Lac Blanc carry more weight than any list.
