Lac Betsy lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Elevation runs to 291 metres. About 6 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Ambroise, 21 km away. It is 34 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. More in the same country: Lac Boulianne about 1.1 km, Lac Leandre at about 2.4 km, Lac Pednault about 2.5 km, Lac Rond at about 3.6 km and Lac Brochet about 3.9 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Betsy the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The warmest month averages 17°C, the coldest about -18°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. The season on Lac Betsy rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Lac Boulianne at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. What applies at Lac Betsy may have changed since it was mapped.
