Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a gentle ripple from the S and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Bertrand should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Bertrand in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The water sits 518 metres up. Around 12 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. About 1.8 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. For a base, Labrecque sits 44 km out. After that come Saint-Honoré at 45 km and Saint-Ambroise at 46 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The near bank of Lac Bertrand is often the one people ignore.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -18°C at the bottom of winter. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Lac Bertrand that shapes the whole year.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Raymond is 1.9 km off. None of that is settled for Lac Bertrand in what we hold.
