Dull, settled light over the water, with barely a breath of wind and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Bernard should hold close to sheltered bays and points. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Lanaudière end of Quebec holds Lac Bernard. The bank gives way to lake country bush. At about 32 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. On our Lanaudière list it sits near the top for size. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 17 km off. The big place round here is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 92 km distant. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Lanaudière names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Bernard repays a walk before the first cast.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -15°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Anyone fishing Lac Bernard regularly works to that calendar.
No access rule appears in what we hold. A camping area sits within 1.3 km of here. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Levot, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Lac Bernard before loading the car.
