Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with mild air moving in from the SW and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac Barrette along the seam between weed and open water. Look for Lac Barrette in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It sits in rolling bush country. Small at around 10 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Around 1.9 km of margin, front to back. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Baie-Comeau at 63 km is the nearest place to stop. Saguenay is the closest city, 293 km away. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no depth figure for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Fish Lac Barrette where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -14°C for January. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. At Lac Barrette the season follows that pattern closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Lac Croche, 1.2 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Barrette in what we hold.
