Overcast skies today, with an easy breeze from the S and steady pressure. The fish at Lac aux Rats are likely to sit near points where shallow meets deep. The strongest window is the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac aux Rats is one of the Laurentides waters in Quebec. It sits at 252 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 3 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. On size it sits at the modest end of our Laurentides list. For a base, Lac-Connelly sits 3.5 km out. The nearest city of size is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 28 km away. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac aux Rats repays a walk before the first cast.
Climate normals give 19°C for July and -12°C for January. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about early December. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Expect Lac aux Rats to follow that timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Lac Echo at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac aux Rats in particular, ask before you travel.
