Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with light air out of the NNW and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lac aux Grelots around reed fringes and open pockets. The strongest window runs from morning through afternoon. Stay mobile and follow the activity. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac aux Grelots lies in Chaudière-Appalaches, in Quebec. The ground round it is lake country bush. At about 55 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. With about 3.0 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Few waters listed in Chaudière-Appalaches are bigger. Start from Adstock, 10 km down the road. Saint-Éphrem-de-Beauce lies 11 km off, Thetford-Mines another 27 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Chaudière-Appalaches: lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The shape of Lac aux Grelots rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Between January at about -12°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac aux Grelots runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. The nearest alternative is Lac Rochu, 6.6 km out. What applies at Lac aux Grelots may have changed since it was mapped.
