Wet weather working through today, with a gentle ripple from the S with the glass holding level. Lac Asticot should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. Set the alarm around the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Out in Mauricie, Quebec, sits Lac Asticot. It sits at 363 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Mauricie list holds plenty of bigger water. Mandeville sits 30 km from the bank. Saint-Élie-de-Caxton is 35 km away, with Saint-Gabriel at 37 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Public occurrence data for Mauricie names northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lac Asticot the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Averages move between -15°C in January and 18°C in July. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Plan any trip to Lac Asticot around it.
Public data does not answer the access question here. A launch point is recorded some 940 m off. Parking is not close: 930 m from the bank, and no nearer option is mapped. A campsite is mapped about 1.3 km away, which makes an early start easier. There are toilets mapped about 1.1 km away. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Lac Arbout, 0.4 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Asticot in what we hold.
