Overcast skies today, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Arthur around the first drop-off and weed lines. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Arthur is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. Land around it is taiga. It measures about 28 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Around 3.3 km of margin, front to back. Leblanc is the closest place, 68 km off. Chapais lies 105 km off, Chibougamau another 117 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Arthur fishes better once you know its edges.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -18°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. On Lac Arthur the same rules apply, with local timing.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac des Indiens at 1.4 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Arthur in particular, ask before you travel.
