Cloud coming and going through the night, with next to no ripple and pressure sitting still. On Lac Artemis, work the margins and the shelf beyond them first. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Artemis is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. Around the bank it is pine and birch. It measures about 44 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 3.8 km, and most of it is walkable. Start from Mattawa, 76 km down the road. Deep River lies 82 km off, Notre-Dame-du-Lac another 84 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The shape of Lac Artemis rewards a slow walk along one bank.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -15°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Artemis fishes to that pattern most years.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Kitcimikiwakami, 1.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac Artemis as something to verify.
