A charged sky with storms about, with a light S breeze with a settled glass. Fish at Lac Archet should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Archet lies in Laurentides, in Quebec. The country round it is rolling bush from end to end. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is a small entry by Laurentides standards. The nearest place of any size is Mont-Laurier, 30 km away. The big place round here is Orléans, 94 km distant. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. The near bank of Lac Archet is often the one people ignore.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -14°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Archet.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Kealy, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Archet should be assumed from this page alone.
