Rain moving through today, with almost no wind to speak of and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Arcand should come off reed fringes and open pockets. The useful hours run night into morning. Stay patient; middling days often turn late. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Set in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, this is Lac Arcand. Around the bank it is mixed forest. Roughly 15 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The full circuit measures close to 2.0 km on foot. Head to Laurentides, 15 km away, for anything you forgot. La Tuque lies 36 km off, Sainte-Thècle another 48 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Work Lac Arcand in sections rather than trying to cover it.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -15°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Time your trip to Lac Arcand by conditions rather than dates.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Perchaude, truite Moulac sits 1.3 km out and is marked for fishing. Overnight stays are possible about 1.3 km out, where camping is mapped. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Failing this one, try Lac des Tortues, 1.1 km away. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Arcand for certain.
