A closed sky with even light today, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Arbour should come off the seam between weed and open water. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Arbour falls in Mauricie, part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 409 metres. Surface area is around 17 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The bank runs about 2.5 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Leblanc at 82 km is the nearest place to stop. Beyond it, Chapais at 99 km and Chibougamau at 103 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Arbour responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The range across the year is -18°C to 16°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Arbour.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Lac Rothau, 0.7 km out. What applies at Lac Arbour may have changed since it was mapped.
