Showers crossing the water today, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and no real change in pressure. On Lac Ally, work structure within a cast of the bank first. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Ally stands in Lanaudière, Quebec. Everything around it is boreal forest. Small at around 5 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. The nearest town is Manawan, 26 km away. The big place round here is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 150 km distant. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout among the fish reported. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Treat Lac Ally as a water to read rather than to cover.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -16°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Ally.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Lac Crepeau is 0.3 km off. Confirm access to Lac Ally locally before you travel.
