Dull, settled light over the water, with a faint S drift with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac Allard around the first drop-off and weed lines. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

The Mauricie end of Quebec holds Lac Allard. It lies 319 metres above sea level. At 5 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Saint-Élie-de-Caxton sits 37 km from here and is the nearest stop. Trois-Rivières sits 72 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Allard gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -15°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac Allard runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. A campsite is mapped about 1 km away, which makes an early start easier. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Failing this one, try Lac Bourassa, 1.2 km away. For Lac Allard in particular, ask before you travel.
