The Mauricie end of Quebec holds Lac Alex. The setting is spruce and muskeg on every side. Around 13 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The whole outline is near 2.0 km, and most of it is walkable. Leblanc is the closest place, 64 km off. Weymontachie follows at 103 km, then Manawan at 107 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Lac Alex a short move beats a long cast.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 17°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. It holds true on Lac Alex more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Jos at 1.8 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Alex for certain.
