A closed sky with even light today, with a soft S wind with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Albert should centre on the calm side of the wind. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Albert is one of the Côte-Nord listings for Quebec. The surface lies 235 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Côte-Nord list holds plenty of bigger water. 30 km away sits Forestville, the nearest town. Beyond it, Betsiamites at 33 km and Chute-aux-Outardes at 52 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Lac Albert light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The warmest month averages 16°C, the coldest about -16°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. On Lac Albert the same rules apply, with local timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Lac Cote, 0.6 km out. Rules at Lac Albert are worth checking on the day.
