An even grey lid over the water, with a whisper of wind from the S with the glass holding level. Lac a Taggert should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac a Taggert is one of the Outaouais listings for Quebec. The country here is pine and birch. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. The closest town, Wakefield, is 30 km distant. Shawville is 36 km and Constance Bay 37 km. Not far off: Lac McColgan roughly 0.7 km, Lac Lunam near enough 1.2 km, Lac Cassel roughly 1.5 km, Lac Sussex near enough 1.9 km and Lac Dole roughly 2.3 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt among the fish reported. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac a Taggert the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Averages here run 19°C at the top of summer and -13°C at the bottom of winter. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about early December in a typical year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac a Taggert runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac McColgan, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac a Taggert if anything is unclear.
