Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a consistent blow out of the WNW and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac a Standen is windblown banks where food collects. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Quebec holds Lac a Standen, in Outaouais. Around the bank it is mixed forest. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Shawville sits 20 km from the bank. It is 57 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. Not far off: Lac Barnes 1.2 km, Lac a Murrell the better part of 2.1 km, Lac McCleary 2.6 km, Lac du Gouvernement the better part of 2.6 km and Lac Martin 2.9 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. The near bank of Lac a Standen is often the one people ignore.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -13°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near early December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac a Standen rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Barnes, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac a Standen, the notice at the access point is the final word.
