Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a whisper of wind from the WSW and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac a la Truite along the shallows early and the drop later. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac a la Truite the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.

The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. It holds true on Lac a la Truite more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first.
